How to Clear Gas Lines on Craftsman Snowblowers

Sears department stores sells the Craftsman brand of home products, which consists mostly of hand tools, power tools, lawn tools, and gas- and electric yard tools such as lawn mowers. Craftsman makes a line of gas and electric snow blowers that are designed for residential use. For gas snow blowers, when the season is over or if the snow blower won’t be used for 30 days or more, you should clean the fuel system out. Storing a snow blower with fuel still in the system can cause gum deposits to form in the hose, tank, carburetor and fuel filter. Plus, the fuel will have likely spoiled, or separated, by the time the next snow season comes around.

Instructions

    • 1

Take the snow blower outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Locate the bowl drain on the underside of the carburetor. It resembles a small, round plug closer to the edge.

    • 2

Press up on the bowl drain to drain the fuel from the carburetor while holding a container underneath to catch the fuel.

    • 3

Set the container of fuel aside, then start up the snow blower. Let it run until all of the fuel is used up and it stops.

    • 4

Store the snow blower in a dry, clean area for the off-season.
