How to Store Roofing Tiles in the Rain

An impending rainfall interferes with the installation of your new roof. You must make adequate storage arrangements if you expect a delivery of new tiles right before a rainfall since it is important to keep them dry. If the boxes or wrappings get wet, the tiles can fall out and break when you attempt to lift them off the pallet. You can keep your new tiles safe in the rain with a few supplies.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare an area in the front or back of your yard that is large enough to contain the tiles. Clear the space of all debris.

    • 2

Have the delivery personnel place the tiles in the space. The delivery driver usually arrives with a forklift to lift the pallets off the truck and place them where you wish.

    • 3

Drape a sheet of tarpaulin over each pallet. Ensure that the edges of the tarpaulin reach the bottom of the pallet on each side so that the boxes of tiles are completely covered. Use ropes to tie the tarpaulin in place.

Keep the tiles covered until the weather is dry enough to proceed with the installation.
