How to Slow a Roof Leak While It's Still Raining

Having a leaking roof can cause a myriad of issues. It can make your home excessively moist, which can ruin furniture, cause mold growth and cause you to have to replace textiles, bedding or rugs. Find a slow leak in the roof and plug it even when it is raining.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a bucket underneath the flow of water to catch all of it. This will prevent some damage in your home.

    • 2

Find the source of the leak. This can be the most complicated step. Use a flashlight or ladder so you can access the roof. The source of the leak might not be directly above the water droplets.

    • 3

Wipe the area around the source of the leak. Clean it with an all-purpose cleaner.

    • 4

Peel the adhesive off of a temporary roof patch and press it against the source of the leak. This will prevent the leak from dripping inside your home.
