  Use a pry bar to pull up loose Spanish tiles that need replacement. The only time they need replacement is if they have suffered surface damage.

  Install the new Spanish tiles using copper nails. These are strong enough to hold up the heavy clay tiles. Note that galvanized nails are not strong enough to install the Spanish tiles and will ultimately fail.
