Metal roofs are notoriously leaky due to the holes that are created for roof anchor bolts. The anchor bolts drive through the metal and into beams of the roof's structure. During installation of the roof, acrylic or silicone caulking is applied around bolts to prevent leakage. Over time, the sun dries and cracks the caulking, leading to leaks. If you have a rusty metal roof on your trailer that leaks, this can be remedied with the installation of a rubber sealant o-ring or reapplication of caulking.
