How to Care for Purity Fiber Cement Shingles

Purity fiber cement siding comes in many shapes including shingles, rounds and octagons. It resembles wood but does not buckle, rot or warp. It also handles paint well and will stay the intended color for years. The siding is made from a combination of sand, cement and cellulosic fibers. During the manufacturing process, high temperature steam is used to cure the siding. This makes it strong and stable. While the Purity fiber cement shingles are durable and fireproof, they still need some maintenance.

Instructions

    • 1

Power wash the shingles once a year. Dirt accumulates on them, changing the appearance of the shingles. Power washing also eliminates insect nests that may be present.

    • 2

Look over the joints in the material. The caulked ends where the shingles meet boards, doors and windows could separate slightly, causing gaps. If you notice the caulk pulling away, fill in the gaps with latex, high quality acrylic or urethane caulk.

    • 3

Repaint the fiber cement siding product every seven to 15 years.
