How to Make a Roll of Insulation Stick to the Ceiling

Roll insulation provides a simple installation and is usually of good value for the footage obtained. Roll insulation can be used along any surface, including sandwiched into walls or the ceiling. As a general rule, roll insulation does not stick to anything, as it contains no adhesive. Rather, it is attached to the beams and studs with staples.

Instructions

    • 1

Load your staple gun with the specified staples, placing the staples in front of the pressure spring.

    • 2

Put on your safety glasses, mask and gloves, as insulation can be toxic if inhaled.

    • 3

Set up your ladder and climb to where you access to the ceiling. Start unrolling the insulation with the paper side facing down and the fluffy insulation facing up toward the ceiling.

    • 4

Staple the insulation paper to the rafter, attaching a staple every 6 inches. Be sure to pull the paper tight before attaching each staple. Continue until all the insulation has been installed.
