Set up a ladder to allow you easy access to the affected area of the tin roof.
Climb the ladder, then remove the screws, affixing the trim to the eave of the roof. Remove only enough trim screws so that you can slide the damaged tin panel away from the roof.
Slide the damaged panel away from the roof, then measure the dimensions of the panel, using a tape measure. Record the measurements, using pen and paper.
Mark a new sheet of tin paneling, using a marker or chalk to match the measurements you took from the damaged panel, then cut the panel according to the measurements using tin snips.
Cover the two longer sides of the newly cut tin sheet with butyl tape.
Slide the new tin sheet into the damaged sheet's place on the roof and under the roof trim. Ensure that it fits snug into the roof trim.
Place a strip of butyl tape along the edge of the roof at the trim.
Replace the trim screws you removed earlier.
Drill a screw into the sides of the new tin panel, starting at one corner on each side, then moving up 2 inches until the panel is secured.
Brush roof coating over the seams of the panel on each side, then allow the coating to dry.
