Sweep the corrugated fiberglass patio roof with a broom. Remove all leaves, twigs, dirt and other loose debris from the panels.
Pour 4 ounces of fiberglass cleaner into a bucket. Add 1 gallon of water to the detergent, and then mix the solution with a clean stirring utensil.
Scrub the fiberglass patio roof with the detergent solution using a stiff nylon brush. Focus on one 4-by-4 square foot section of the fiberglass roof at once, rinsing each section thoroughly before proceeding to clean the next. Let the patio roof dry overnight after you clean it.
Rub fine steel wool over the entire roof to remove loose glaze and provide a slightly rough surface for the coating to bond to. Wear rubber gloves when sanding to prevent direct contact with the fiberglass.
Rewash the entire patio roof to remove loose glaze particles. Use the same cleaning techniques as previously, and then let the fiberglass dry overnight.
Make sure the temperature is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit before coating the roof. Ensure no rain or heavy dew is in the forecast for 48 hours.
Cover all joints and seams on the patio roof with fabric-backed sealing tape. Apply pressure to the center of the tape and then toward the edges, removing all bubbles as you work along the seams and joints.
Put on protective clothing, safety glasses and the rubber gloves. Open a container of fiberglass RV roof coating, and stir the contents thoroughly with a paint mixing stick. Pour the coating into a paint tray.
Coat the entire fiberglass patio roof with the fiberglass roof coating using a nylon paintbrush. Brush the coating onto the corrugated panels using smooth, even strokes in one direction. Use one gallon of the coating per 350 square feet of roof.
Let the first application of fiberglass roof coating cure for 24 hours.
Apply a second uniform coat of the fiberglass coating to the entire corrugated fiberglass roof using the same previous techniques. However, brush the strokes perpendicular to the first coat to ensure the fiberglass is evenly sealed.
Let the final coat of fiberglass roof coating cure for 24 hours.
