Sweep the roof with a broom to remove leaves and loose debris.
Rinse the roof with a garden hose and scrub dirt and debris off of it with a soft scrub brush soaked in warm water and a mild detergent. Dirt interferes with roof repairs and disrupts the bonding process so the roof should be as clean as possible. Wait for the roof to fully dry before continuing.
Insert a tube of neoprene cement into a caulk gun and use the gun to apply it to any cracks in the metal flashing and around the edges. The neoprene cements forms a tight seal with the metal and prevents water from infiltrating it once it dries.
Trowel a layer of roofing cement over the top of the leaking areas to provide an additional level of protection against rain.
Push a roof patch into the roofing cement so it lies flat over the damaged area and then trowel another layer of roofing cement over it. Smooth it out with the trowel and allow it to dry.
