How to: Fancy Chimney Tops

Chimney tops, or caps, block moisture from entering the chimney and potentially damaging the exterior flooring and walls of a home. The caps also prevent small animals, including squirrels and birds, from becoming trapped inside the chimney. Decorative chimney caps can add a nice touch to your home’s exterior, but don’t always fit into everyone’s budget. One way to make a top look fancy is to spray paint an inexpensive steel chimney cap that fits a double or single flue chimney.
