The foillike material reflects the heat entering your roof and keeps your attic cool. The installation process will go by quickly with the help of an assistant, and you can remove the foil at any time.

Instructions

    • 1

Pull a sheet of Radiant Guard foil into the attic and line it along the bottom of the upper chord along the truss. The upper cord is also known as a rafter.

    • 2

Hold the foil up against the bottom portion of the upper chord so that it is a few inches from the bottom. Leave a small gap along the bottom to allow ventilation for the soffits.

    • 3

Tell your assistant to hold his end tight and hold your end up to the upper chord.

    • 4

Staple three to four staples into each upper chord to hold the foil in place.

    • 5

Cut the foil sheet the proper length with a utility knife if it is too long once you reach the last upper chord.

    • 6

Press the foil up against any supports that may be blocking the way and use the utility knife to cut a slit to separate the foil into two pieces. Pull the two pieces of foil around the support, so that it wraps around the support, and then staple it into place. You do not need to have a perfect cut or a tight fit around the support, but ensure that it is secure.

    • 7

Cut a slit in the foil if there are any pipes blocking the area. If it is an expandable pipe or a vent, cut the foil to allow a few inches around the pipe or vent.

    • 8

Overlap the next piece by one or two inches.

    • 9

Repeat all steps until the area is covered, but leave a couple inches of a gap along the top to allow for proper ventilation..
