Roof repair is one of the leading causes of personal injury around the home. Ignoring proper safety procedures and not having the right safety equipment can lead to a serious accident. When you're working on a roof, a safety harness is a very important tool for gaining access to hard to reach places and for securing you to the roof. With just a few short steps you can safely work on your home's roof.
Fasten the safety harness around you according to the manufacturer's instructions. You should check the fit of the harness before going onto the roof.
Tighten the harness to ensure a snug fit. Loose or dangling straps may slip, leaving you vulnerable to injury.
Drill screws into rafters to secure the roof anchor to the peak of the roof.
Connect the safety rope to the ring on the roof anchor.
Attach the lanyard to the D-ring located on the back of the harness. Be sure to squeeze the rope to adjust the lanyard as your move along the rooftop.
