Plumbing & Installation for an Accara 72 Double Sink Bathroom Vanity

Installing an Accara 72-inch Double Sink Vanity in your bathroom will require some general handiwork as well as some more advanced plumbing expertise. As its name implies, the 72-inch wide vanity includes two sinks for accommodating multiple bathroom occupants. The vanity’s cabinet has an espresso finish, while its counter is available in a variety of materials, including white Carrera marble, ivory marble, frosted glass and black granite. Regardless of the type of counter your Accara 72-inch Double Sink Vanity has, the installation process will be the same.
  1. Preparation

    • Before you can install an Accara 72-inch Double Sink Vanity, you will need to remove the existing sink in your bathroom -- if there is one -- and clear a sufficient space. For best results, take measurements before ordering the vanity to ensure that you’ll have enough room. When the vanity arrives, you can place its cabinet structure in the space you have prepared.

    Counter Installation

    • Due to the size of the counter, you will want to have at least one additional person help you with its installation. To remove the counter from its box, lift the counter from its front side and bring it to a vertical position. Keeping the counter in a vertical position, carefully lift it up and over the vanity’s cabinet. Place the counter’s backside close to the back of the cabinet’s top and slowly lower the counter until it lies flat on the cabinet. During this process, you should be supporting the counter from its sides and its front.

    Hiring a Plumber

    • Once you have the Accara 72-inch Double Sink Vanity’s counter in place, you will likely want to hire a plumber to complete the plumbing work. For best results, get a minimum of two estimates before deciding on a plumber for the job and always check a plumber’s insurance, references and license prior to signing any contracts.

    Do-It-Yourself Plumbing

    • If you are confident in your plumbing abilities, you may be able to finish the vanity’s installation yourself. The process will require that you extend your bathroom’s waste and supply lines and connect each of the vanity’s sinks to these lines. Before you can do this, however, you will first need to shut off the water supply and install new T-fittings. After running supply lines to the vanity’s sinks, adapt your bathroom’s existing drain by replacing its tailpiece with a slip-joint T-fitting. Then, connect this fitting to the drain holes of the vanity’s sinks with an elbow slip-joint and a new tailpiece.

    Faucets

    • The Accara 72-inch Double Sink Vanity does not include faucets, so you will need to purchase and attach them to complete the vanity’s installation. Because each of the vanity’s two sinks has a single-hole faucet mount, your faucet selection will be limited to single-control models. A single-control faucet has one knob, or lever, for controlling both water temperature and water flow.
