Shut off the main water line by turning the ball valve that sits along the main water pipe. This valve is usually located in a basement or crawl space.
Make sure the plastic supply pipe is accessible under the sink. Typically, there are two holes in the bottom of the vanity or sink cabinet where the pipes will be roughed in and already connected to the main water line. If they're not, thread the hot and cold plastic pipes through these holes so they stick at least 6 inches above the base of the cabinet, vanity or floor.
Place a compression-fitting water valve over each of the exposed ends of the pipe. Push down firmly on the valves to ensure a tight connection. No plumber's tape is needed for this connection, as the compression fitting will seal itself to the pipes as you push down.
Screw a braided stainless steel water supply line to each of the pipe threads on the sides of the valves. Tighten the nuts on the supply lines using adjustable pliers.
Tighten the other end of each supply line to the threads on the bottom of the sink. Make sure the line connected to the hot water supply is connected to the threads on the left side of the sink, and that the cold line is connected to the right side. Tighten these nuts with pliers as well.
Turn on the main water valve and test the connections at both the hot and cold sides of the faucet.
