How to Fix an AquaSource WaterSense Toilet Seat

Flip open the hinge bolt cover on the rear of the toilet seat, using your hand. Hold the bolt head steady with a screwdriver. Unscrew the nut on the bottom of the toilet seat's hinge bolt. It is located underneath the bowl rim. Do this for both bolts.

Examine the plastic washers installed on the bottom of the bolts for any damage. Install new washers if needed.

Lift the toilet seat off the bowl and examine the bolt for any deterioration. Screw the bolt clockwise into the seat hinge if it is loose.

Unscrew the bolts from the seat hinges, turning them counter-clockwise, if the bolts will not fit securely into the hinges. Put a dab of fingernail polish onto the top ends of two new, plastic hinge bolts.

Screw the new hinge bolts into the seat hinges, turning them clockwise. The fingernail polish helps seal the bolts in place. Place the seat into position atop the AquaSource toilet bowl, inserting the bolts down through the hinge holes in the bowl rim.

Add a replacement washer onto the bottom of each bolt, from below. Thread a replacement nut onto the bottom of each bolt. Hold the bolt head steady with a screwdriver, and alternately tighten each nut from underneath with your hand, until the nuts fit snugly underneath the bowl rim.

Snap the hinge bolt covers shut.
