How to Change a Shower Spigot Cover

If your shower spigot cover is damaged or you recently updated the faucet in your shower, replacing the shower spigot cover may be necessary. Commonly referred to as a shower faucet, the shower spigot is the device that controls the flow of water coming from the shower head. The cover is behind the spigot handle. Replacing the shower spigot cover requires the use of some common household tools.

Instructions

    • 1

      Turn off the shower's water supply.

      Remove the decorative cap on the tip of the faucet handle, if it has one, by unscrewing it or prying it out with the tip of a knife blade.

      Unscrew and remove the handle retention screw on the tip of the faucet handle.

      Pull the handle away from the shower assembly.

      Remove any rentention screws from the currently installed cover and then remove the cover.

      Place the new cover in the old cover's position, and then insert and tighten the screws included with the new cover kit.

      Insert the handle back onto the shower assembly and tighten it into place using the previously removed screw.

      Replace the shower handle cap if you previously removed one.

      Turn the shower's water supply back on.
