Remove the lid from your tank to expose the hollow overflow tube in the middle. A line on the side of the overflow tube indicates the required water level.
Locate the screw on the head of the inlet valve. The inlet valve replenishes water inside the tank. The inlet valve is generally in the left corner of the tank.
Use a slotted screwdriver to turn the screw counterclockwise. Each counterclockwise turn of the screw raises the water level inside the tank. Begin with a half-turn only.
Flush your toilet, and note the adjusted water level. If necessary, continue to adjust the water level until the level arrives at the line on overflow pipe.
Set the tank lid aside. Locate the water level line near the top of the overflow tube. This hollow tube stands toward the middle of the tank.
Look for a screw on the inlet valve arm. The inlet valve stands to the left of the overflow tube. If the inlet valve lacks a screw on its arm, look for a spring clip on the side of the float cup.
Pinch the sides of the screw, and rotate it counterclockwise one-half turn. Otherwise, pinch the top and bottom of the spring clip and raise the the float cup one-half inch.
Flush the toilet, and check the new water level against the line on the overflow tube. To raise the water lever farther, continue the adjustment in increments.
