Remove the nut on the top of the well pump pressure switch and take off the cover. There are two adjustment nuts, each positioned on a shaft with a spring beneath the nut.
Turn a cold-water faucet on and let the water run. Observe the pressure gauge on the tank as the water level declines until the pump turns on when the water pressure reaches the minimum level.
Turn the larger of the two adjustment nuts to adjust the cut-in pressure level. Turn the nut clockwise for a higher minimum water pressure in the tank, which keeps the water pressure in the home at a higher level. Turn the nut counterclockwise to reduce the cut-in pressure, and lower minimum water pressure in the home.
Observe the cut-out pressure on the tank pressure gauge. As the cut-in pressure is adjusted higher and lower, the cut-out pressure changes with it. The cut-out pressure will require adjustment after the cut-in pressure is corrected.
Turn the smaller adjustment nut clockwise for a higher cut-out pressure, which increases the maximum water pressure in the home. Turn the cut-out nut counterclockwise to decrease the maximum water pressure in the home.
Observe the maximum pressure reached on the pressure gauge. The maximum pressure reached should not exceed the maximum pressure listed on the tank label. Decrease the cut-out pressure if the pressure gauge exceeds the maximum listed pressure for the tank.
Replace the pressure switch cover and the nut to hold it in place.
