How to Repair a Leaky Faucet on a Grohe Atrio Basin Pillar Tap

Grohe is a manufacturer of high-end faucets, and its Atrio basin/pillar tap is a kitchen faucet designed to supply either hot or cold water, but not both. A leak in a single supply line faucet such as this Grohe model is made considerably easier to trace due to there being only one water line to contend with.
  1. Tighten Loose Supply Line

    • The Atrio faucet ships with a single stainless steel braided supply line. This water line feeds from the water pipe in your wall to the underside of the faucet and is connected with a threaded hose connector. Check the threaded connector for signs of a leak and ensure it is tightened securely.

    Repair or Replace Supply Line

    • If the supply line feeding water into the faucet has crimped and cracked or is split, you have two basic options. The first is an inline repair, wherein you simply wrap the supply line in plumber's tape and buy yourself some time before you need to replace the line. The second option is to order a new supply line, either from Grohe or from an authorized Grohe retailer.

    Ceramic Cartridge

    • The ceramic cartridge is what is turned by the faucet handle to turn the water on and off. A damaged or corroded cartridge would manifest itself in a continual leak, even when the faucet is turned off. These cartridges are faucet-model specific and not something that can be replaced with a generic part. Contact Grohe or visit an authorized retailer to order a new cartridge.

    Spout Leaks

    • Leaks at the spout that are exacerbated when you swivel the faucet may indicate a corroded or damaged washer. Turn off the water supply to the faucet and disassemble the spout. Examine the rubber washers for signs of damage and replace as necessary. The washers are of standard size and should be available at any home improvement store.
