How to Install a Tubular Spout Wall Faucet

Tubular spout wall faucets attach directly to your house plumbing pipes instead of relying on water lines. Most often you find this type of installation over laundry sinks or large kitchen sinks. The wall faucet is a one-piece design. The wall faucet uses inlet shanks that thread directly onto the wall pipes. When installing a tubular spout wall faucet, it is necessary to measure the distance between the center of each house pipe to ensure you have a faucet that fits your plumbing.

Instructions

    • 1

Wrap plumber's tape around the threads of each water supply pipe coming from the wall. Wrap the threads in a clockwise direction so the tape stays on the threads when attaching the various components.

    • 2

Slide the coupling nuts over the faucet inlet shanks. There is an inlet shank for each faucet handle. The shank has inside and outside threads on one end.

    • 3

Thread the escutcheon plate over the threads of each faucet inlet shank. Thread the faucet inlet shanks over the water supply pipes.

    • 4

Place a rubber washer over the end of each inlet shank. There is a recessed area around the port on the end of the shank for the rubber washer.

    • 5

Position the tubular spout wall faucet over the shanks and thread the coupling nuts over the threads of the faucet handle. Tighten each coupling nut with a pair of slip-joint pliers.
