How to Install Newport Brass Faucets

Newport Brass is a bathroom fixture company that primarily produces a wide variety of bathroom and kitchen fixtures, including faucets. While Newport Brass fixtures are considered to be designed fixtures, they are all manufactured to accept standard plumbing connections. That means all Newport Brass faucets may be installed using standard supply lines with compression fittings. Installation requires only a few tools and a basic knowledge of plumbing systems. Installed properly, a Newport Brass faucet will last for years.
  1. Preparing the Sink

    • Since the faucet will sit on top of the sink for a long time, it's critical to properly prepare the surface of the sink. Wipe the surface of the sink clean with a damp rag. This will remove any dirt, pet hair or other debris that could otherwise be trapped under the faucet for years. Dirt that stays trapped for that long may permanently stain the surface of the sink, making it impossible to add a new faucet later on that has a different shaped base.

    Securing the Faucet

    • It's important to ensure your Newport Brass faucet is properly anchored to the sink so that it does not move or allow water to seep through the seal under the faucet. Place the faucet into the holes in the top of the sink, and avoid hitting the threaded posts on either side of the faucet against the edges of the sink. Have a helper hold the faucet straight and in place from the top of the sink. Place a washer lock nut around each of the posts under the sink. Place a tailpiece over each post and turn clockwise until tight. The tailpieces will hold the faucet in place.

    Connecting the Supply Lines

    • The supply lines connect the water supply valves to the faucet handles. Place one end of a compression sink supply line onto the right post, which is the cold side of the faucet. Tighten the nut on the supply line by hand. Finish tightening the connection with a wrench. Repeat with a second supply line on the left, or hot water side of the faucet. Connect the other end of the right faucet supply line onto the valve that supplies the cold water to the sink. Turn the nut with a wrench until tight. Connect the other end of the left faucet supply line onto the valve that supplies the hot water to the sink. Turn the nut with a wrench until tight.

    Testing the Connection

    • There are two places where the flow of water should be tested on a new faucet. First, turn both of the small supply valves under the sink 90-degrees counterclockwise. This will open the flow of water to the sink. If the faucet has two handles, turn one of them on as far as it will go. If you are satisfied with the performance, turn that side off and turn the other side on. To change the flow rate on either side of the faucet, turn the supply valves slightly clockwise until the flow is set at the desired level.
