How to Install an Elongated Kohler Sifton Wall-Hung Toilet

Kohler manufactures a line of wall-hung bowls to include the Sifton models. Wall-hung toilets are usually found in buildings that serve high populations, such as restaurants or schools. Wall-hung toilets can be more efficient for these settings since they don’t require a toilet tank to be constantly refilled for flushing. Although they look different from traditional tank-based toilets, the installation process is essentially the same.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the carrier studs for severe damage or rust. The bearing nut should be on each stud, followed by the washer. Replace as necessary per the carrier manufacturer’s manual. Stud nuts sizes may vary according to your carrier’s requirements, but they are typically 5/8ths of an inch.

    • 2

Put the toilet gasket on the Kohler wall mounted toilet bowl’s outlet per the gasket installation instructions. Apply silicone sealer or caulk around the gasket’s outer line.

    • 3

Lift the bowl and align the mounting holes over the carrier studs. When the holes are aligned, gently rock the mount holes towards the wall.

    • 4

Hold the bowl in place and put the carrier stud nuts on and hand tighten. Once all four nuts are on, tighten firmly with your socket set. Put the mount bolt caps on.

    • 5

Install your flush valve onto the spud coupling nut per the manufacturer’s instructions.
