Sinks & Faucets for Motor Homes

Durability and water conservation are important concerns when choosing sinks and faucets for motor homes. Sink surfaces can look bad quickly if they consist of thin materials that won’t stand up to heavy use. Motor home water supplies can last significantly longer with the addition of water-efficient faucets
  1. Interior Sinks

    • Interior motor home sinks are available in a variety of styles, which include corner sinks for small bathrooms and double sinks for kitchens. These sinks are usually made of porcelain, plastic or stainless steel. Plastic sinks are often the least expensive, but their surfaces usually aren’t scratch resistant. Some thinner plastic sinks may eventually crack and leak. Porcelain sinks typically are more durable than plastic varieties, but they may chip if they’re struck with force. Stainless steel sinks aren’t prone to cracking and chipping, but they can produce more noise if dishes are rattling around inside of them.

    Exterior Sinks

    • An exterior sink is useful for cleaning fish and other items outside so that odors and dirt aren’t brought inside a motor home. Exterior sinks can be mounted to a frame on the side of a motor home. They have a faucet and hose that connects to a spray port to provide a supply line for water. Another hose drains the water out of the sink. Exterior sinks are usually plastic so that they’re lightweight and easy to move.

    Water-Efficient Faucets

    • Motor homes usually have refillable tanks that provide water to the vehicle. Water-efficient faucets reduce the number of water tank refills. For example, the patented Senry Faucet 5608 is equipped with a spray mechanism that’s useful in bathrooms. The spray conserves up to 90 percent of the water that normally passes through a conventional faucet when people wash up, according to the company. A lever on the faucet allows users to switch between regular water flow and the low-pressure spray. You may have to pay $300 or more for a Senry faucet.

    Other Faucets

    • Faucets with synthetic polymers on their undersides may last longer because the synthetic layer resists corrosion and mineral buildup inside the faucet. Curved goose-neck faucets are useful in kitchens because they sit high above the sink, making it easier to fit large pots under the faucet. Motor home faucets are similar to other faucets made for home use. However, motor home faucets are sometimes smaller than faucets that fit other sinks. You may have to go to a motor home dealership to find faucets that fit your sinks.
