How to Paint Metal Flake on Gel Coat

Gel coat is a fiberglass paint consisting of fiberglass resin that is pigmented with color. Gel coat is not only a paint; it also is a protective layer with additives that protect from ultraviolet rays. The consistency of gel coat is very thick and requires a gel coat spray gun for application. Metal flake is commonly used on gel coat and is basically clear gel coat with metal flake in it. This is applied over the colored gel coat. All gel coat and gel coating supplies can be found at your local marine supply store.
