Look for a used sprayer locally. When purchasing used equipment, including airless paint sprayers, it is best to purchase one locally. If something goes wrong with the sprayer, you have immediate access to a solution. Many used sprayers will come with a warranty for a minimum of 90 days.
Ask how old the sprayer is and what it was used for. If a painting contractor used the paint sprayer, it would be wise to look for another one. Painting contractors, especially commercial painters, use airless sprayers almost on a daily basis. This does not mean that the sprayer will not work, but it might not last long.
Use the sprayer if at all possible or ask for a demonstration. This is important if you purchase your sprayer from a private individual. Bring a gallon of paint to test the sprayer pump. If this is not possible, ask for a written warranty.
Purchase your used or reconditioned airless sprayer from a supplier. There are several manufacturers’ that rebuild spray equipment to function like new. Reconditioned paint sprayers will come with at least a 90-day warranty, and some will come with a one-year warranty.
