Instructions

    • 1

Move everything that is on and around the bathtub. Put on a face mask, goggles and gloves. Clean the surface of the bathtub thoroughly with an alcohol-based chemical cleaner, being careful not to allow the cleaner to come in contact with any surrounding paint. Rinse off the cleaner and allow the tub to dry.

    • 2

Sand the bathtub surface by hand using coarse sandpaper; be sure to include the ledge and all the corners. This will help the paint adhere to the tub. Rinse or wipe off the sanded material.

    • 3

Cover everything that will not be painted, such as the faucets and the drain, with masking tape; cover the floor with a drop cloth, secured by masking tape.

    • 4

Follow the instructions in the kit for the epoxy paint. Before opening the paint, put on a face mask, goggles and gloves. Apply the paint quickly with a brush, beginning with the inside of the tub and finishing with the ledge. Allow the paint to dry 24 to 48 hours. Add a second and third coat as needed, allowing each to dry completely.

Once the tub has cured, put on a face mask, goggles and gloves, then follow the instructions for mixing the clear epoxy. Apply a thin coat of the epoxy to the surface of the bathtub. Remove the masking tape when the tub is completely dry.
