How to Paint Extruded Polystyrene

Extruded polystyrene is a type of rigid, energy-efficient, moisture-resistant insulation foam. If you have exposed extruded polystyrene foam somewhere in your home, you can help make it blend in by coating it with paint. However, you must choose the appropriate type of paint for the project, or you will permanently damage the foam. In addition, you should employ specific application techniques, or you may cause chunks of the extruded polystyrene to crumble or break free.
