How to Fix Drips on Freshly Painted Walls

Painting is an easy way to give any room a makeover, and doing it yourself as opposed to hiring a professional will save you money. Painting walls is relatively simple, but it's not uncommon for drips of paint to form on the walls. If you're fortunate, you will catch these drips while you're still painting; however, this is not always the case, and sometimes the paint has already started to dry.

Instructions

    • 1

Smooth out paint drips on wet walls by running the brush back over the spot. Use a light motion to blend the drip in with the paint.

    • 2

Blot semiwet paint drips with a soft cloth or paper towel. Dab just enough to remove the drip. If you are painting another coat over the entire wall, this minor blemish will blend right in. If you aren't planning on painting the whole wall, use a small paintbrush to fill in the bare spot.

Scrape off completely dried paint drips with a small razor blade. Use the blade gently and only scrape off the raised part of the drip. Sand over the spot in the direction of the paint drip with 220-grit sandpaper until the surface is smooth. Touch up the spot with a small paintbrush.
