Measure the height of your walls to your ceilings.
Measure the length of each wall and add the figures together.
Multiply the height of the ceiling by the total length of your walls. This is the square footage of your walls if your room has even ceilings.
Measure the height difference of any ceiling that sits higher than the rest of your ceilings. These height differences are the result of the peaks of cathedral or vault ceilings. To do this, measure from the peak of the wall at the highest point down to the height of the rest of the ceiling.
Multiply this height difference by the length of the wall, then divide by two. This will give the area of the triangle-shaped wall leading to the peak of the vaulted veiling.
Add this number to the square footage of the other walls. The total will be the total area of your walls in square feet.
