How to Paint a Chandelier Electrical Wire

Chandeliers make wonderful additions to a residential entryway or dinning room. These light fixtures are often ornate and produce an illuminating cascading effect. However, most have unsightly wires which detract from the chandelier's overall aesthetics. Because the wires are necessary to power the light fixture, they often cannot be completely hidden. However, you can paint them to match the ceiling, which will make the wiring hanging from the chandelier less noticeable.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the chandelier in a well-ventilated area such as a detached garage, shed or outside on a lawn.

    • 2

Dampen a rag with plain water, then wipe down the chandelier wires to clean off any dust that may have accumulated.

    • 3

Allow the wires to air dry, then cover the chandelier with newspaper using painter's tape to keep the newspaper in place.

    • 4

Extend the chandelier wires out over the newspaper. They should be as straight and flat as possible.

    • 5

Apply the first coat of indoor/outdoor spray paint in a color of your choosing to the chandelier wires. Let dry for two to three hours, then spray on a second coat and let dry overnight.
