Instructions

    • 1

Decide what you intend to do with pink. If you are going for a vintage bathroom appearance, consider a tea-rose pink. If you are creating a child’s bathroom that is meant to be spunky and youthful, a brighter shade of pink would be more appropriate. Select two to three different paint swatches from the paint-supply store to bring home and compare on the bathroom wall. Before selecting the final color, tape the swatches to different walls and view them with both natural sunlight and artificial light.

    • 2

Purchase the selected color in a latex-based semigloss finish. Semigloss is recommended for bathrooms, since it is easy to clean and resistant to mold and mildew in high-moisture rooms.

    • 3

Clean out the bathroom by removing the shower curtains, countertop accessories and wall decorations that are removable. Take off the electrical outlet covers and light-switch plates and store them in a safe place.

    • 4

Prepare the room by placing drop cloths on the floor to protect the tile. Tape off all the woodwork throughout the bathroom using a 2-inch-wide layer of painter’s tape. Pay special attention to where the ceiling meets the wall, trim and baseboards and around the vanity.

    • 5

Apply a thin coat of enamel undercoat primer to the walls using a paint roller. Use a 2-inch angled trim brush for any hard-to-reach corners or narrow spaces. Allow the primer to dry until it is no longer tacky to the touch.

    • 6

Paint the trim and narrow areas where the painter’s tape has been applied by using the 2-inch brush and the semigloss pink color. Move the brush in one direction and avoid moving from side to side, which causes uneven paint strokes.

    • 7

Paint the walls using a paint roller and the pink paint. Start by placing a small amount of paint in the painter’s tray. Roll the rolling pad into the paint and then even the distribution on the roller by using the ridged section of the tray.

    • 8

Start on the middle of the wall and create a "W" shape by moving the paint roller vertically. Do not pull the paint roller off the wall until there is no more paint coming off the roller’s pad. Add more paint to the roller and continue painting until the wall is full of the pink color.

    • 9

Allow the paint to dry and apply a second coat. Inspect the room by turning the lights on and off. Look for any imperfections, patches or blotches in the paint and make sure to cover them thoroughly with the second coat.

    • 10

Wait for the paint to dry completely before removing the painter’s tape and replacing the accessories and fixtures.
