How to Paint Doors with Acrylic and Latex

Whether installing brand new doors or remodeling old ones, the right type of paint is often the difference between success and failure. When selecting the paint for a door, consider the composition. Doors may be wood, metal or fiberglass. The composition is typically obvious for a new door. An old door's make-up may be a mystery until the old finish is removed. Always begin with a bare door. For old doors, use chemical stripper or sandpaper to completely remove any old paint or stain before beginning a new painting project.
