How to Clean Lacquer-Finish Kitchen Cabinets

Kitchen cabinets with a lacquer finish produce a high gloss shine that must be maintained properly. To keep the cabinets looking their best, you want to use something that removes all of the buildup without eating away at the lacquer finish. Also, keep in mind that residue left behind by your actual cleaning products is sometimes an issue as well, so avoid those commercial cleaners and instead make your own cleaning solution.

1/2 cup white vinegar
1 tsp. dish soap

  Fill your kitchen sink with about 2 qt. water, 1/2 cup white vinegar and 1 tsp. dish soap. The vinegar cuts through buildup and disinfects, and diluting it will cause no damage to the finish of your cabinets. The dish soap also cuts through grease and food residue, and both ingredients dry streak-free and leave behind no residue.

  Dip a cleaning rag into the mixture, wring it out slightly and wipe it over the cabinets.

  Rinse out the cleaning rag with plain water. Wring it out and wipe over the cabinets to remove any cleaning residue.

  Dry the cabinets with a clean rag, wiping with the direction of the wood grain for a shiny streak-free finish.
