Instructions

    • 1

Brush the timber. Use the bristle broom to remove as much loose dirt and grime as possible. This will make stains easier to see and tackle.

    • 2

Mix your water-stain remover. In the plastic bucket, combine oxalic acid with boiling water. Wear wood gloves to protect your hands and safety goggles to protect your eyes. You should always add the acid to the water, rather than vice-versa. Check the instructions on the package for exact measurements since every product is slightly different.

    • 3

Paint the oxalic acid onto the water stains on the timber. The wood bleach will draw out the water stains. Wait until the mixture dries, and then repeat the process no more than one more time if the stain is not completely gone. The oxalic acid will bleach the wood with repeated applications, which is why you cannot use it more than twice before you stain.

Sand the area. Sand with the grain. Once you have finished sanding, you are ready to apply your stain to your watermark-free timber.
