Resin wicker furniture has the look of real wicker, without the maintenance hassles. It is made of a type of plastic which is more durable than regular wood wicker. The resin is weather resistant and can handle the stress of ordinary use, which makes it a favorite among home owners. They are also easy to store because the pieces often break down or stack up to take up less space. Although they are durable products, take care of resin wicker to extend its life and keep the appearance in tip-top shape.

Instructions

      Remove leaves and other debris as soon as you notice them,. Vacuum or use a leaf blower to get it off the furniture. If left, the debris may leave small stains when it decomposes.

      Fill a bucket with water. Add mild soap such as dish detergent. Wipe off the resin wicker furniture with a sponge or rag. Dry it with a cloth or paper towel.

      Clean off stubborn grime and stains with a non-abrasive all purpose cleaner, cleaner-polish or a glass cleaner. Follow the instructions on the label. Rinse off the solution with water and dry with a clean soft cloth.

      Wipe car wax onto the pieces every two years. It will add a shine to the furniture.

      Keep resin furniture away from heat sources such as an outdoor grill. The extreme temperatures could cause the plastic to melt.

      Store resin furniture during the summer and winter. The hot sun can cause the color to fade. Winter ice and snow can also damage the plastic. Some manufacturers temperature-test their furniture to withstand extensive exposure of -40 degrees Fahrenheit and 176 degrees Fahrenheit, however, the furniture will still break down over time.
