Cement Siding Bevel Vs. Lap

Cement siding is designed to give homes the look of wood siding without the maintenance demands. Most cement siding comes with a 50-year warranty against defects and is termite-, water damage- and fire combustion-resistant. Two common styles of cement siding are beveled and lap.
  1. Beveled Siding

    • Beveled siding is designed on a slope, thicker at the bottom edge than the top. It is anchored to the building's wall horizontally to create long lines that trace around a building. It is sold in a variety of sizes, with varying thicknesses and square-foot coverages.

    Lap Siding

    • Lap siding is smooth, even-cut siding that maintains a constant thickness. Also known as channel siding, lap siding can be installed diagonally, horizontally or vertically. Running siding in multiple directions on a single surface can create a unique exterior on any building.

    Cement Siding

    • Whether you chose to install beveled or lap siding, expect cement siding to cost more than vinyl or wood siding options. Cement siding may need to be repainted every three to five years for cosmetic purposes.
