Fill the reservoir of a carpet shampooer with a gallon of distilled water. Most standard-sized carpet shampooers can hold at least a gallon at a time; However, smaller machines may hold less.
Add the laundry detergent and baking soda. The baking soda is added for further odor neutralization.
Spread the Garmetech mattress pad out on a clean floor.
Use the shampooer's attachment setting and apply the brush attachment to the top left-hand corner of the mattress pad. Power on the hot setting on the machine and squeeze the trigger to release the hot water solution through the brush. Move to the right until you reach the far right corner of the mattress pad. Repeat by moving across the mattress in rows, descending slightly each time until you reach the bottom. This saturates it with hot, soapy water.
Power on the suction feature on your shampooer and apply the brush firmly to where you first began soaking the mattress. Move firmly across the mattress pad with scrubbing motions until you reach the other side. Repeat this process in rows until you reach the bottom of the mattress pad.
Dump out the dirty water from the machine's reservoir. Replace it with hot, clean water. Repeat Step 4 with the attachment. Instead of shooting soapy water into the mattress pad, you are shooting hot clean water. This rinses away remnants of dirt and soap.
Repeat Step 5 to suck out the excess moisture from the mattress pad. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 two more times to assure that the pad is fully clean and free of soap or dirt.
Hang the mattress pad over your bathroom's shower-curtain rod or over a rod in your closet. Memory foam dries quickly and should be completely dry within six to 12 hours.
