How to Identify Craftsman Engine Numbers

Craftsmen tools with engines or motors will have identification numbers on a metal tag fastened somewhere on the engine or motor. Use this number to report difficulties with your engine or motor, to get repairs on it or to purchase a replacement. The numbers can also help you identify a stolen or lost craftsman tool.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Craftsman product upside down to access the engine or motor.

    • 2

Open the case that covers the engine or motor. Most craftsman tool engines or motors are covered with a thick plastic shell that prevents it from getting dirty and damaged. Open the case with a screwdriver to remove screws and pry doors open.

    • 3

Look inside the engine or motor to find a white metal tag attached to one side. The tag will have a bar code.

Read the numbers on the engine or motor and write them down so you can have them for servicing purposes.
