How to Set the Gas Valve Pressure

Gas pressure regulators are devices that are located between the gas supply, which is typically a tank or line, and the equipment that needs the gas. A regulator controls the valve pressure, which monitors the amount of gas that goes through. The regulator is necessary because the pressure from the line or tank has to be reduced to a reasonable level prior to traveling to the gas device. It is important to set the valve to the proper pressure level to prevent possible explosions and keep the equipment in working condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the equipment and note where the pressure gauges and valves are.

    • 2

Figure out which gauge measures the gas line pressure. This is usually written on the gauge.

    • 3

Read the owner's manual to determine the correct pressure setting for the valve.

    • 4

Set the pressure. Twist the adjustment knob in a clockwise direction until you have reached the necessary pressure as indicated by the user's manual. If you went too far, just turn the knob counterclockwise until you reach it again. Turning the knob clockwise will increase the pressure or open the valve, and turning the knob counterclockwise will lower the pressure or close the valve.
