Installation of a 6505 Drawer Slide

The 6505 drawer slide, an over-travel drawer slide, installs on the side of a drawer and to the inside of the drawer's cabinet. A 6505's telescopic slide rides on ball bearings and holds a drawer with up to 125 lbs. of contents. A 6505 drawer slide's quick-disconnect latches unlock and release the drawer from its cabinet. Available in nine different sizes, the 6505 drawer slide's over-travel feature lets the drawer completely slide out of its cabinet without releasing the latch.

Instructions

    • 1

Extend the 6505 drawer slide to the full-open position. Depress the rail's locking latch and pull the slide out of the rail, separating the 6505's two pieces.

    • 2

Make a pencil mark 2 5/8 inches up from the bottom of the drawer's side, using a tape measure as a placement guide. Make pencil marks at the front and back of the drawer's side. Repeat this on the drawer's other side.

    • 3

Hold the top of the rail's flange against the pencil marks on one side of the drawer. Secure the rail's flange to the drawer with three 7/16-inch wood screws, using a Phillips screwdriver to drive the screws. The screws penetrate the holes in the front, back and center of the rail's flange. Mount the second rail to the drawer's other side using the same method.

    • 4

Place a pencil mark 1 1/4 inch up from the bottom of the cabinet's drawer opening, using a tape measure as a placement guide. Hold a bubble level on the pencil mark. Draw a level line across the side of the drawer's opening, using the bubble level as a guide. Repeat this on the drawer opening's other side.

    • 5

Position the 6505 slide's screw holes on a drawer opening's level line. Attach the slide to the side of the drawer opening with three 7/16-inch wood screws, using the Phillips screwdriver to twist the screws. The screws pierce the screw holes in the front, back and center of the slide. Mount the second slide using the same method.

Align the ends of the drawer's 6505 rails with the ends of the 6505 slides. Slip the ends of the slides into the rails until the slides hit the locking latch. Depress the latches and push the slides past the rail's latches.
