Trim Assembly

• The trim assembly of a Schlage lock is the internal parts of the device. Each model or type of Schlage product has each individual part listed in the service manual that comes with the product. Determine which part is malfunctioning or damaged and order that replacement part to correct the problem.

Knob or Lever Assembly

• The knob or lever assembly is the door handle of a Schlage locking device. The handles come in different designs, such as Georgian, Levron or Orbit. If the handle is damaged on a Schlage lock, determine which design it is and order a replacement handle. You also must know what type of finish the knob assembly has. Schlage locks have wrought iron, brass or stainless steel finishes.

Latches

• The latch of a Schlage lock is one unit or part. The company offers a dead latch, spring latch or rabbeted latch with strike plate, so you must know which type your Schlage lock uses before ordering a latch.

Strikes

• The strike plate on a Schlage lock is the part that attaches to the door frame. Strike plates come with square corners and round corners as well as different sizes and shapes. The service manual will tell you the length and size of your particular strike plate.

Cylinder

• The cylinder of a Schlage lock is the part where you insert the key to lock or unlock the door handle. Each cylinder assembly differs by type lock. The cylinder is a precision device with close tolerances, so ordering the correct cylinder is an important when repairing a Schlage lock. You can order individual parts of the cylinder, but unless you have experience as a locksmith, it is best to order the entire cylinder assembly.
