How to Fix a Heat Stain on Wood

Wood is a classic building material for inside and outside your home. Wood furniture has a timeless appearance and is durable enough to last for generations. While wood is durable, it's not indestructible and is vulnerable to chips and scratches just like any other material. Wood tables, counters and desks, for example, can be vulnerable to heat stains from hot dishes or beverages. However, you don't have to live with such stains and can restore your wood to its original condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Spray the wood with an all-purpose cleaning spray and wipe it down with a soft cloth. Allow it to air dry.

    • 2

Place a thin cotton towel over the heat stain. Turn on your iron and allow it to heat up to medium heat. Fill the reservoir with water.

    • 3

Place the iron over the towel where the heat stain is. Move the iron around, pressing down on the steam button or knob on the iron.

    • 4

Continue this process for a minute or so and lift the towel to check on the stain.
