Remove any old caulking from the top edge of the shower pan. Slide a screwdriver or razor blade under the edge between the shower and the caulk. Gently cut away a starting place to pull the caulk up. Grab the lifted caulk with needle-nose pliers and pull the caulk up. Apply heat from a hair dryer if the caulk is too hard to remove. Hold the hair dryer 6 to 8 inches from the caulk until you can lift it gently with a screwdriver.
Scrape away any remaining caulk with a putty knife or razor blade.
Wash the area with warm soapy water. Wipe any caulk residue with a soapy sponge and allow it to dry for an hour.
Clean the area with a small amount of rubbing alcohol with a dry towel. The shower pan should be completely clean and free of residue before you apply any new caulk.
Cut the end of the caulk tube at a 45-degree angle, and insert a very thin, long nail into the top of the tube to break the seal.
Hold the caulking tube directly onto the seam, and run a small line of caulk in 1-foot sections.
Dip your finger into a small tub of water, and run your finger along the top of the caulk to press it into the seams and to create a smooth edge.
Continue running the caulk until the edge of the pan has been caulked. Allow the caulk to dry for at least 24 hours before you use your shower.
