How to Get Expo Marker off of a Locker

Expo is a brand of dry-erase marker that is intended to be used on dry-erase boards. When used on the surface of a dry-erase board, these markers easily wipe off; however, if they are used on other surface, the marker requires a bit more effort to remove than simple wiping. If you're a school faculty member, or you find your own locker embellished with this type of marker, you can use a few tricks to remove the marks from the metal surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Dampen an all-purpose, heavy duty melamine foam sponge, such as a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Rub the sponge over the marker to remove it from the surface of the locker.

    • 2

Soak a clean cloth with rubbing alcohol. Hold the rubbing alcohol-soaked cloth over the marker to lift the stain.

    • 3

Place white toothpaste on a bristled cleaning brush or toothbrush. Rub the toothpaste onto the marker to loosen it from the surface of the locker. Use a clean cloth to wipe away the marker.

    • 4

Spray hairspray onto the marker. Allow the hairspray to sit for a few minutes. Wipe the area clean with a clean, damp cloth.
