How to Get Dents Out of a Fridge

A refrigerator littered with small dents can spell trouble for the average homeowner. In most of these cases, removing the dents yourself is impossible. Only a complete replacement of the door will remedy the problem. However, in instances where the dents are small and not numerous, a simple auto-body trick can work to remove the eyesores from your fridge. Even those unfamiliar with the process can complete the door repair in only a few minutes of work. Properly execute the trick to save your fridge from the scrap heap.

Instructions

    • 1

Protect your hands with a pair of leather or cloth work gloves, and open the windows in your home to ensure that the space is well ventilated.

    • 2

Lift up a small plastic container with one hand and a small piece of dry ice in the other. Keep the dry ice over the plastic container as you work.

    • 3

Hold the container under the piece of dry ice and press the dry ice over the dent on your fridge for approximately 15 to 20 seconds. If the dent is small enough, the sudden temperature drop will contract the material and make the dent pop back out. In some cases, you may need to alter the position of the dry ice over the dent to get it to pop. If you have tried different positioning with the ice and do not see any results, the dent is too large to be corrected with this method.
