How to Fix an Acrylic Panel With a Clamp

Repairing an acrylic panel might seem like an intimidating task at first, but by following a few steps and using a special acrylic bonding agent this task can be completed by the most novice of do-it-yourselfers. This fix will work for both clear and opaque forms of acrylic because it works on the molecular level. The bonding agent works to liquefy the acrylic and, as it off gases, allows the acrylic to re-form, eliminating any fractures, breaks or scratches in the panel.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the acrylic panel from its installed location.

    • 2

Lay the panel flat over two saw horses.

    • 3

Clamp the acrylic panel down to each saw horse. Place scrap cardboard between the jaws of the clamp and the acrylic to prevent any scratching.

    • 4

Make sure the panel is level by adjusting the pressure on each of the clamps. If the panel is not level there will be inconsistency in the acrylic once it is liquefied.

    • 5

Draw 5 ml of acrylic bonding agent into a syringe and release it on the area of the crack, scratch or break.

    • 6

Allow the acrylic to dry for 4 to 24 hours, then reinstall the fixed piece.
