How to Install Bullnose Bead on a Sheetrock Wall

When installing sheetrock walls, you must pay attention to the outside corners of the wall where two pieces of sheetrock join to create a 90-degree angle. This area is particularly fragile because it does not have protective paper to keep the rock inside from crumbling. This means you cannot simply plaster over the corner and expect it not to crumble the first time someone runs into it. To overcome this, drywall installers install a plastic or aluminum bullnose corner bead.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Bullnose to square adapter
  • Shears
  • Spray adhesive

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height of the floor molding you plan to use on the wall, using a tape measure, and then cut a piece of "bullnose to square" adapter so the square end of the adapter matches the height of the floor molding. Use the shears to cut the adapter.

    • 2

Spray the corner of the drywall from the floor up to a height that matches the height of the adapter. Press the adapter into the corner. The adhesive will hold the adapter in place.

    • 3

Measure the distance between the top of the adapter and the ceiling, using the tape measure. Cut a piece of bullnose corner bead to match this measurement. Again, cut the corner bead with the shears.

    • 4

Spray the corner of the drywall with the adhesive from the adapter to the ceiling.

    • 5

Press the corner bead onto the corner of the drywall.
