How to Repair a PetSafe Doggie Door

Doggie doors provide simple and effective ingress and egress for your dogs, cats and other pets. Over time, your PetSafe dog door may develop cracks and tears, due to the wear and aging of the plastic or rubber door flap. When the door flap appears cracked or shredded, it is time to replace it with a new one. Making this simple repair to your PetSafe doggie door takes only a few minutes, in most cases.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the four wood screws retaining the PetSafe doggie door’s interior frame to the inside of the main door. Remove two of the wood screws on one side of the PetSafe doggie door, using a power drill with a Phillips screwdriver bit. Loosen, but do not remove, the remaining two screws on the other side of the door.

    • 2

Pull the PetSafe doggie door back, and locate the screw on the top inside edge of the door. Remove the screw with the power drill.

    • 3

Separate the top of the doggie door’s interior frame from the frame’s side piece. Slide the plastic door flap out of the top piece.

    • 4

Insert the grooves at the top of the plastic door flap into the slots along the bottom of the interior frame’s top piece. Slide the door flap into the doggie door’s interior frame.

    • 5

Reconnect the top piece of the doggie door’s interior frame with the side piece. Reinsert the retaining screw, and tighten it with the power drill.

    • 6

Push the interior frame against the inside of the main door. Reinsert the two removed wood screws, and tighten them with the power drill. Tighten the loosened screws on the other side with the power drill.
