Instructions

    • 1

Verify the location where you are cutting several times. If you cut out tile in the wrong location, it will have to be repaired later.

    • 2

Mark the area you need to cut with a grease pencil and a straightedge. This will give you a guide line on which to cut.

    • 3

Fill a spray bottle with water and mist the area where you will be cutting. The water will help mitigate any dust and keep the tile from chipping and splintering.

    • 4

Install a porcelain cutting bit onto a rotary grinding tool. Hold the tool so that the bit is at a 90-degree angle to the tile you are cutting. Start the tool and carefully lower it onto the line you drew. Make a first cut around the entire perimeter of the area then make a second pass to cut completely through the tile. Spray down the area with water if it dries.

Scrape off any stuck pieces of porcelain with the blade of a flat head screwdriver. Use the rotary tool to even out the edges.
